Project 5: The Mask (Speculative)

          It's time to have fun!

The mask represents art. In its simple beauty, the mask speaks of the joys and grief that are part and parcel of being human. Our lives are made whole and full with both experiences.

Sure, i prefer the former, that is joys. So i imagine myself going to a party room. It is a party mask. It shows the feeling of delightful. The mask interpret my expression when i entering the glorifying room. I smile once i step in the room as smile will give the good first impression for everyone. Besides, i feel happy because it is the time for me to relax and have fun in the party.

Black color stands for mystery feeling. Everyone in the party is wearing the mask. We will not recognize each other there and also everyone seems immersed in its own thoughts during the party.

Yellow and white colors are used to show the light condition in the room. The area is bathed in its usual glorious, warm and golden light. Its looks clear, peaceful and lovely.

In short, i enjoy myself tremendously in the party room without knowing each other faces. Just like we will always try hard to enjoy the life although there are many unpredictable trials and challenges in our life.

Steps of the mask making process :
  1. First, ingredients included tissue paper, plastic wrap, A4 paper, tapioca glue, scissors and water are  prepared.
  2. Cover the face with one layer of plastic wrap so that the tissue paper will not stick on the face.
  3. Tissue paper is then applied on the plastic wrap (tissue paper is soaked evenly).
  4. A4 papers are cut into strips and placed on the face with tapioca glue.
  5. It is then let to dry for a few minutes (hairdryer is used to speed up the process).
  6. Steps 2 to 5 are repeated until the mask is thick enough.

Ingredients prepared.

My friends help me to apply a layer of tissue paper on the plastic wrap.

A4 strips are pasted by using tapioca glue.

I am repeating the steps 2 to 5 until the mask is thick enough.

Then i sketch the design of my party mask on an A4 paper.
I draw and color the design on the mould made.

This is my completed  " FEELING MASK "      =)
